Women's Unit at Chicago Heights Campus

The Franciscan St. James Health Women's Unit at the Chicago Heights campus has been designed to meet the special healthcare needs of women patients. The Unit offers an innovative nurse-driven model of care in a private, comfortable setting, featuring a centrally located nurse alcove and family kitchen.

A clinical care coordinator oversees and coordinates the care of patients to ensure continuity throughout their stay. Drawing on her nursing experience and critical thinking skills, the clinical care coordinator develops and manages care plans, communicates and rounds with physicians, provides clinical direction to staff nurses, and evaluates patient outcomes. Staff nurses hire their own partners to provide direct patient care. The result is a highly organized team approach inspired by trust and accountability.
