A comprehensive program to target and treat the origin of pain

The Franciscan St. James Health Pain Management program, located at the Olympia Fields campus, is an interventional outpatient program that offers patients a full range of treatment options, including several minimally invasive procedures, for successful pain management. By significantly decreasing or eliminating patients’ pain, our program dramatically improves their overall quality of care and quality of life.

Dedicated staff, technology and interventional procedure room

Pain management specialists at St. James have access to our dedicated procedure room where many interventional outpatient procedures are performed. The room contains an X-ray image intensifier, often referred to as a C-Arm or Fluoroscope, which produces a real-time, moving X-ray image of the patient. Specialists use this equipment to relieve pain by guiding catheters that deliver treatment to the site of pain.

An interdisciplinary approach to pain management

Our program also serves a vital role to both inpatient and outpatient care. Patients admitted to the hospital are often referred to our specialists if their pain issues are not resolved through other means. Successful evaluation and treatment of pain often requires the input from other medical specialties, including physical therapists and rehabilitation specialists. By working with experts across disciplines, our pain management specialists provide more complete solutions for managing pain and encouraging overall health.

By providing a dedicated facility and staff, Franciscan St. JamesHealth allows pain specialists like me to meet our patients’ needs — often in one visit.”
