When a patient is confronted with diabetes, it's good to know that the team at Franciscan St. James Health Center for Diabetes is ready to help. Located on our Olympia Fields Campus, the Center for Diabetes assists in the management of diabetes and its related complications, allowing individuals to lead a healthier, more satisfying life.
Franciscan St. James Health was the first hospital in the South Suburbs to be accredited by the American Diabetes Association. The Center continues to provide accredited diabetes education and services to the surrounding communities. To make sure the highest level of care is maintained, the fully certified staff works closely with referring physicians to develop thorough treatment plans while national clinical trials bring new solutions to the forefront.
Patients work with a team that includes Board Certified Endocrinologists, Certified Diabetes Educators, Registered Nurses and full-time Registered Dietitians. The team monitors and assesses patients every three to six months based on their circumstances and recommends individual treatment plans that best fit the patient's condition and lifestyle. Education on diet, exercise and medications is also covered, including information on the Insulin Pump and Continued Glucose Monitoring System (CGMS). Patients also have access to a counselor, ophthalmologist, kidney specialist, cardiologist and dentist to treat complications associated with diabetes. Diabetes patients who are ready to take control of their health can find the solutions they need at Franciscan St. James Health.
