Prepared Childbirth Education Classes

Prepared Childbirth Education Classes
This series of four-week classes will familiarize the expectant mother and her coach with relaxation and breathing techniques, role of the coach, hospital procedures and options. We recommend that couples begin this class six to seven weeks prior to the expected birth of the baby. (4 week series)
$50-$100 per couple
Weekend Prepared Childbirth Education
This class is a convenient way to learn the basics of the Lamaze techniques for coping with labor and birth. Breathing, relaxation, visual imagery, and focal point will be demonstrated and practiced in class. Analgesic and anesthesia options will be discussed to prepare the expectant mother and her labor support person for a hospital birth.
$50-$100 per couple
Refresher Prepared Childbirth Education
This one-evening class provides expectant mothers and coaches an opportunity to refresh their coping skills learned in the Lamaze method.
$20-$50 per couple
Baby Care Basics
This one-session class is for expecting and new parents, grandparents and grandparents-to-be. Newborn daily care and feeding, infant safety issues and signs of illness are discussed.
$10-$30 per couple

Unique Classes for the Entire Family

Art of Breastfeeding
This one-session class is designed to prepare you and your support person for a rewarding breastfeeding experience. Some topics included: anatomy and physiology, benefits to baby and mom, the working mom, pumping and storing of breast milk and weaning.
$25-$50 per family
Super Sibs
This class is specially designed for children expecting a new baby in the family and is most appropriate for children ages 3-10. Each child is asked to bring a doll or stuffed animal to diaper and one or both parents must accompany the child. A film and tour are part of the session that strives to promote sibling harmony and reduce the anxieties related to the child's changing role as a big brother or big sister. Offered at both hospital campuses.
$10 per family
Moms in Motion
A fitness program designed to prepare women for the physiological changes that occur during pregnancy and postpartum. Develop stamina, increase strength, and restore muscle tone after the baby is born. Increase your energy level and you will easily be able to handle the rigors of motherhood. All of our instructors are certified and are trained in physiology, anatomy, biomechanics and exercise strategies for pregnant and postpartum women.
Moms in Motion Group Exercise Class
This Tuesday and Thursday class combines low impact aerobics, toning and stretching exercises for a total fitness program perfect for both pregnant and postpartum women. The Saturday class is an aquatic workout that is ideal during and after pregnancy. The class is a positive and supportive place to learn, share information and get fit.
$24/$36 for a 4-week session
Moms in Motion Personal Training
Our personal training program offers the specialized focus that pregnant and postpartum moms deserve. A personalized program is designed around your individual needs to help you look and feel great during pregnancy and postpartum. Please call 708.755.3020 to set up your individual appointment.
Pondering Pregnancy
This one-session class is for individuals contemplating pregnancy or those that have just learned they are pregnant. Proper nutrition and lifestyle, dietary supplements and how to handle early pregnancy are a few of the topics covered.
$25 - $50 per couple
Infant CPR
This class is designed for parents and grandparents. It includes instructions on infant CPR and obstructed airway (newborn to 1 year old).
Class fee is $20 per couple.
Class size is limited due to American Heart Association guidelines.
Lullaby Birthplace Tours
Prospective parents and other interested individuals will become acquainted with the obstetrical and nursery services offered at the Lullaby Birthplace at the Chicago Heights campus through a free tour. The LDR (labor, delivery, recovery) suites, some featuring a whirlpool, may be viewed if not occupied at the time of tour.
