Prior to any procedure, a surgical consultation is required. This is your time to meet with Dr. Shayani, review medical, weight history and have all of your questions answered. You are welcome to bring family or other members of your support team to meet the physician and feel comfortable with the decision you have made. The appointment typically lasts one half hour. We try to schedule consultations as soon as possible, as not to slow down the processes for you. Please bring your license, insurance card, Patient History Packet, co-payment and referral if you have an HMO.

After the consultation, all notes and orders will be mailed to your primary care provider and our staff will communicate with you on a regular basis to help coordinate your care.
Tina Musselman, Program Coordinator, will work closely with you to gather all documents required for insurance approval. She will submit the documentation to your insurance provider on your behalf. While approval is pending you may contact your insurance company at any time for an update. Insurance review typically takes between two to four weeks. Once approval is received, a surgery date can be chosen. There are not wait time or waiting lists for surgery. We try our very best to schedule surgery to meet your needs and schedule. During this time we will also continue to help collect and coordinate testing or clearances ordered by Dr. Shayani. Our goal is not to make you wait or delay surgery. We work hard to ensure a smooth and seamless process.
